Forrest School has a one bed clinic adjacent to the main office. A licensed nurse addresses common health complaints and oversees administration and verification of prescription medications. Health screenings are completed each year on students at different grade levels. A confidential health alert list is compiled by the school nurse and distributed to the faculty. Any health issues with a student should be addressed on the enrollment form or communicated to the school nurse.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS

ALL prescription and over-the-counter medications must have an MD signature, along with a parent's signature in order for them to be dispensed at school. Each medication must be in a labeled container with the name of the drug, student name, and dosage on the label. Students will not be permitted to carry any drug on their person or on the school bus. All medications must be brought to the school by an adult. *Inhalers CAN be carried by the student, only after written authorization by parent and MD is on file. Medications that are twice a day or three times a day can be given at home.

LEAVING SCHOOL-NURSE EXCUSED

Students will be sent home for fever greater than 100.5, lice, suspected pink eye, suspected staph (impetigo), or any other communicable disease suspected by the nurse will be nurse excused after contacting the parent for permission.
