Governor's School

 

In 1985, Governor Lamar Alexander started the Governor's School program to encourage individual academic growth in specialized areas. This month-long summer program is available to rising juniors and seniors who have an interested in becoming more knowledgeable in various areas. Governor's School is held on Tennessee state colleges and universities includes schools for Agricultural Sciences, the Arts, Math and Sciences, International Studies, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Prospective Teachers, and Tennessee Heritage. A school for Hospitality and Tourism is in the planning stages. Applications to the various schools are due by mid-December.
